DeafNT’s purpose is to remove the barriers to the personal development and social inclusion faced by adults, children and young people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
DeafNT provides advocacy, information and support for deaf and hard of hearing people in the Darwin NT community and is auspiced by Deaf Children Australia (DCA). Our services include Auslan (Australian Sign Language) classes, Outreach Services for all Deaf and Hard of Hearing in remote locations, information and resources, referrals, advocacy, community links and awareness. We respond to individual needs regardless of the degree of hearing loss, communication methods, educational settings, personal circumstances or additional disabilities. DCA has local DeafNT staff on the ground in the Territory to provide direct assistance. We will also be providing Outreach through NDIS in 2018.
